In the past, PP (polypropylene) was used as the main material for the household appliances panel. However, due to its poor high temperature resistance, fire resistance and corrosion resistance, it is easy to become brittle and yellow after long-period use and tends to be a great potential safety hazard for household appliances. Therefore, in recent years, high temperature heat-resistant ABS material has been widely used in household appliances in replace of PP.
Due to the addition of benzene ring, the temperature resistance and impact resistance of high temperature heat resistant ABS products have been greatly improved. At the same time, due to the decrease of melting index of materials, the products are prone to cracking. In the initial inspection, the product is easy to get returned in a great sum due to lack of experience.

To solve this problem, great attention must be paid to the following points:
1. Mold wall thickness
For the mold of high temperature resistant ABS products, the wall thickness should be kept as consistent as possible. There should be no large range of increase or decrease. Especially during the treatment of stiffeners and chamfers, the wall thickness change must be reduced, so that the cooling time of the product can be kept synchronous as far as possible during the cooling shrinkage, and the larger stress concentration will not be caused.
2. Molding temperature and injection pressure
In the process of debugging, the molding temperature should be as low as possible. Generally, the molding temperature of ABS is about 200 degrees. 180 degrees is recommended to use as the molding temperature of ABS. The injection pressure should not exceed 110 MPa, so as to avoid the internal stress concentration in the radial direction of the flow channel as well as the occurrence of embrittlement.
3. Pressure maintaining
High temperature ABS has a very high requirement for pressure holding, which generally follows the following two points: the holding pressure must be small; the holding time should be appropriate, not too long or too short. 80% of the shrinkage internal stress of the product is caused by excessive packing pressure. Too long holding time is easy to reduce the distance between molecules, and the product is too rigid and easy to fold; too short holding time leads to serious internal feeding of the product, resulting in greater cooling stress, which is not worth the loss.
