Record 56: Why Does The Burn Marks Always Exist On the Product Surface?

A few days ago, Taili Plastics Machinery visited the Mr. Li’s factory in Wenzhou. His product is a flow meter in the water meter, which belongs to the category of precision injection molding product. We have known each other for more than 10 years, and he has always bought a certain big brand injection molding machine imported from Japan. Therefore, even though we have known each other for so long, we have never had the opportunity to cooperate.
According to Mr. Li, his water meter can only be made qualified with Japanese injection molding machines. But I don’t agree. Due to my insistent request and the pressure of 10 years of friendship, he finally agreed to try one mold out at Taili Plastic Machinery Factory. Before the mold came, Mr. Li had warmed me that mold is prone to get burn marks and he has not found the problem yet. It depends on my technique whether we make it.

In fact, there are several general reasons to the burning problem:
1. Improper injection molding process
The burning of this un-thin-walled product is generally due to improper injection molding process. Generally acting on non-Newtonian fluids, that is, the shear heat generated by friction during melting will be much greater than that brought by the heating coil to the material. This kind of burn marks generally appear in the nozzle attachments, which is caused by the cracking of the fluid surface due to the passive extrusion of the raw material under the condition of high speed and high pressure through a smaller nozzle.
2. Poor mold exhaust
If the exhaust of the mold is not done properly, it is easy to cause burnt at the edges. If this happens, on the one hand, you can reduce the clamping pressure, and on the other hand, you can also compensate the mold.
3. Raw material
If too much regrind or lubricant is added to the raw materials, it is easy to cause burning problems. The investigation of this situation can be carried out through the to-air injection experiment, that is, injection to the air. You can observe the color of the injected material and whether there is burnt.
According to the above ideas, Mr. Li's mold test passed very easily. The main problem was the clamping force of the injection molding machine. After adjusting the injection pressure and other parameters, this problem was perfectly solved.
