Injecting molded glass lens have a high profit margin. But due to its high technical threshold and high scrap rate, there’s not so many manufacturers doing the glass lens.
Generally, the material of glass lens is PC (polycarbonate) or PMMA (acrylic). PC lens has the advantages of good wear resistance, high impact resistance and good transmittance. However, it is more expensive (about 3 times more expensive than ordinary PMMA materials). Generally, low-end lenses are made of PMMA, while high-end lenses are made of PC.
