Polycarbonate (PC) has good light transmittance, stable size and high tensile strength, but its fatigue resistance and wear resistance are poor. Therefore, glass fiber is often added in the industry to form reinforced PC to ensure the wear resistance and fatigue resistance of shell strength.

Generally, the tensile strength of reinforced PC is only 50 MPa, while that of reinforced PC produced by him can reach more than 75 MPa, which is leading the peers over 50%!
In order to improve the strength of PC, the most important thing is to solve the problem of "floating fiber". The so-called floating fiber is that PC material and glass fiber cannot be fused with each other. In the melting state, if the shear force of the gate is too large, the glass fiber will separate from the PC fluid, solidify on the surface of the product, and form floating fiber. This phenomenon will greatly affect the strength and wear resistance of the PC product.

There are several ways to solve this problem as follows.
1. Improve the solubility of glass fiber and PC
We can consider changing the ratio of glass fiber and PC to change the compatibility between them. We can also increase the bond strength of glass fiber and PC by adding compatibilizer and lubricant. For PC raw materials, it will be better with higher melting quality.
2. Increase temperature
Generally speaking, for reinforced PC, the higher the material temperature is, the better it will be under the condition that the raw materials will not turn yellow and discolor, which will greatly increase the compatibility between PC and glass fiber and reduce the appearance of floating fiber.
3. Reduce the injection pressure and increase the injection speed
The key is to reduce the injection pressure during the injection process, so as to reduce the internal stress of the product, increase the tensile strength and reduce the brittleness of the product. In the process of filling the cavity, the injection speed should be increased as much as possible to ensure the same cooling rate of the internal and external fluids. In special cases, we can consider using mold temperature machine as assistance.
